Composer, Judith Shatin composed Forest Music for the fifty participants of the 2024 season of New Music On The Point, the summer program in Lake Dunmore, in response to composer/director Juraj Kojs's imaginative theme, Artphibian.
Forest Music was inspired by five of the most common, yet magnificent, trees in this area: sugar maple, white ash, paper birch, Eastern hemlock and Eastern white pine.
Shatin created sonic paths for the performers to trace the growth of the trees, from their seeds to leaves, protective bark and spreading roots. Forest Music fosters rich contact with the natural world that envelops and sustains us.
