Juneteenth Celebration with Clemmons Family Farm

You're invited! Join Dr. Lydia Clemmons and Ms. Kia'Rae Hanron of Clemmons Family Farm for a morning of storytelling and art at the Charlotte Library. We'll have the Charlie Cart serving Juneteenth-inspired refreshments as well as books to browse, coloring pages and a word search. For all ages.

Community Mural Making
10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Clemmons Family Farm K12 Arts Learning Director Ms. Hanron will facilitate the painting of a collective mural for all ages on the Library porch. Brainstorm ideas, paint and connect with others around themes and ideas of Juneteenth, such as liberation, freedom and looking to the future. The completed mural will be displayed at the Library.

Storytelling with Lydia Clemmons: How Great Grandma Margie Ran Away. Twice.
10:30 am and 11:30 am
Clemmons Family Farm President, Dr. Lydia Clemmons, will tell a family story about her Great Grandma Margie, who escaped from the plantation in Louisiana where she was still working as an enslaved cook, more than 40 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
