Join Women & Our Woods (WOW) and landowner Doreen Jones as we showcase the forest management work implemented on her forestland in Rochester. Doreen's forest management plan prescribed a thinning in order to favor straight and healthy balsam fir and spruce and remove unhealthy or poorly formed trees. So, in the summer of 2023 a Vermont Youth Conservation Corps crew, in partnership with WOW, completed a thinning of 11 acres.

Join us to learn what pre-commercial thinning is and its benefits for forest health, resilience, and wildlife habitat. We will also have an opportunity to do some birding and practice our tree identification skills. Children are welcome.
