Bethel's Committee on Inclusion and Equity is pleased to announce the third annual Juneteenth Celebration, taking place on June 19th at the Bethel Bandshell with musical performances, artmaking, bounce house, special guest speakers and BBQ.
Music will be provided by a trio of musicians from Lakou Mizik, a powerhouse collective of Haitian musicians united in a mission to use the healing spirit of music to communicate a message of pride, strength, and hope for their country. Their positive messages and roots revival music have become one of Haiti's hottest exports from their mystical, soulful, dance party inducing live shows.
Dr. Shirley Jefferson and Rev. Dr. Leon Dunkley will be featured as guest speakers. Dr. Jefferson is a nationally sought after speaker and adviser on matters relating to race and the law and equitable access to legal education, Jefferson is a Vice President of Vermont Law and Graduate School and a member of the Vermont State College Board of Trustees and Vermont State Police Advisory Commission.
