(This post corrects the date of Thursday's visit on the original post - my apologies for the error).

The public tours of the proposed solar array site will be this Thursday June 13th at 2 pm, and Saturday, June 15th at 2 pm. Meet in the parking area off LaPlatte Circle Dr. We hope many of you can attend. Feel free to bring your kids along too – after all, we're all working for their future.

Here is the full, corrected post:

The Sledding Hill and Renewable Energy - We need both!

The climate and energy committee agrees with those who've written to say that the sledding hill is part of what makes Shelburne special. Our community gardens and the LaPlatte park are also.

Another part of what makes Shelburne special is the snow in winter, our beautiful June days, summers swimming in Lake Champlain and our fall colors.

Like you, our goal is to keep all of these special things.

Shelburne's Town Plan's energy goals include:
• To promote renewable energy generation, and a transition away from fossil fuels
• To implement measures towards becoming more self-sufficient
• To actively work towards achieving long term energy sustainability with local energy production to affirm Shelburne's commitment to our children and future generations.
(visit http://www.shelburnevt.org/414/Town-Plan for the full text)

With both our special public spaces and the environment in mind, we've worked with both the Nature Conservancy and sledders to site a proposed solar array to help meet the town's energy goals. We're working to have both our open spaces AND to protect the environment so that they are able to be enjoyed into the future.

We'd like to show you the site and hear your comments and suggestions. There will be a public tour of the site on Thursday June 13th at 2 pm, and another on Saturday, June 15th at 2 pm. Meet in the parking area off LaPlatte Circle Dr. We hope many of you can attend. Feel free to bring your kids along too – after all, we're all working for their future.

If you can't make the upcoming tour, we're happy to schedule a time that will work for you.

We will also be discussing the project at our meeting on Friday June 14th at 4:30pm in the Town Office meeting room #2. All are welcome to attend.
