"Vermont is a State I Love" Artwork by Ned Reade

Past event
Jun 7, 2024, 4:30 to 7:30 PM

Join us tonight - Friday, June 7th - for the opening reception of "Vermont is a State I Love", a series of watercolor paintings from Ned Reade. VNRC is proud to bring Ned's work to Central Vermont as part of Montpelier Art Work, and we hope many of you will stop by between 4:30 and 7:30 pm this evening to check it out, chat with the artist, and enjoy some light refreshments. Our office, 11 Baldwin Street, is venue #23 on tonight's Art Walk.

Ned's exhibit explores the changing seasons across the townscapes and landscapes of Vermont, with particular attention paid to the people working and recreating on these lands. His work captures a sense of place that is unique to Vermont and its residents. Whether it's summer haying or winter sugaring, you will be transported to the farmyards and fields, small towns and homesteads, and bridges and roads of our beautiful state.

Ned will be on hand to discuss his methods and motivation. As he writes: "Painting for me fulfills an urge to record a place or moment in time. The contrast between the precision of architecture and the looseness of reflected light and natural forms is a common theme. Painting releases creative and emotional energies; it can be as exhilarating as dancing or playing a sport. The excitement of painting on location is that it lends itself to freedom and spontaneity. Trying to fix an image creatively is like trying to solve a puzzle that has no perfect solution."

"Vermont is a State I Love" will only be on display in Montpelier for a limited time, so don't miss your opportunity to see the exhibit. Additional visiting hours for Ned's exhibit can be found on VNRC's website, http://www.vnrc.org, or by appointment.

We hope to see you this evening!
