The MAUSD School Board has worked hard listening to concerns expressed by the community regarding both the financial impact of the proposed revised budget and even more importantly to our community's concern about the effect of budget reductions on direct services to students. On Tuesday, June 11 we have the opportunity to support a budget that is $1.6 million less than the rejected budget presented in March. Importantly, this revised budget preserves most student facing positions. While there are some decreases in teaching positions at the Middle School/High School (where there will be about 100 fewer students than the current year), all current program offerings will still be available to students.

If the proposed budget fails to pass there will be significant negative consequences including incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest from having to borrow until a budget is passed.
