What disease in America has more cases than HIV and breast cancer combined?

Lyme Disease. Over 500,000 Americans are infected with Lyme disease each year.

Vermont is currently #1 in the nation per capita for cases of Lyme Disease.

Even if diagnosed and treated early, 10-20% of lyme patients will stay sick, (similar to covid.) Sadly, the understanding of the potential severity of this illness, the short-comings of the current diagnostics, and access to effective treatments, are not yet in the hands of our local medical practitioners. What will you do if someone you love gets bitten by a tick?

In her movie, The Quiet Epidemic, co-director, Lindsay Keys, helps make the case for chronic lyme. This award-winning documentary about the hidden public health crisis of Lyme and tick-borne diseases will have a Vermont showing this Sunday, June 9, at 11:00am (doors open at 10:30am) at the beautiful Savoy Theater in Montpelier.

The Quiet Epidemic addresses the history of Lyme Disease and just how and why it became so controversial. It also shines light upon some of the amazing doctors and researchers at highly respected institutions, (Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Duke, Northeastern, Columbia, Tulane, MIT, Harvard and more,) who are working hard to change the dynamic, the diagnostics and the treatments.

If you or a loved one has ever suspected your symptoms are caused by lyme, if you are a medical professional who wants to better understand Lyme, if you have a friend who has told you how crazy the lyme rabbit-hole is, come see The Quiet Epidemic.

The movie will be followed by a hope-filled discussion with co-director Lindsay Keys, Burlington's Stram Center Naturopathic Doctor Kathryn Boulter, and local Lyme disease advocate Rachel Nevitt. We will discuss some of the latest research on new testing and treatments as well as how the Quiet Epidemic is garnering attention and changing minds in Congress!

You can purchase tickets at the door on a sliding scale fee: free for those afflicted, $10 general, $20 for those who want to help cover the cost of those who are afflicted. Come participate in the discussion or be a part of this supportive, informative community. Eat a leisurely breakfast, come watch the film and have the rest of the day to enjoy the summer.

I hope you'll join us Sunday at the Savoy Theater in Montpelier, June 9 at 11:00am.
