The Lincoln Historical Society will be opening the museum for the season on June 9th. We're excited to announce that we've revamped the entire exhibit space and are eager to share our two new exhibits.
Lincoln Cemeteries Exhibit
This exhibit cuts across Lincoln's history, featuring historic characters from multiple eras. A cattle smuggler turned pastor, a woman who founded our library, a toddler from an immigrant family who died tragically young, Lincoln's last postmaster. These are just a few of the characters you can learn about. Clothing, tools, photos and other artifacts are used to bring their stories to life. The cherry on top is that the 3/4 class from LCS helped curate this exhibit!
Historical General Stores Exhibit
Did you know there used to be multiple general stores in Lincoln? We'll have one room in the museum set up with genuine glass cases from one of the historic general stores in Lincoln to help you imagine what it would have been like to patronize one of these stores in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
We also have a library full of resources, news clippings and photos of days gone by. A few local history buffs will be on hand to field questions and satiate your curiosity about Lincoln's history.
The event is free, though donations are welcome. Please visit! Sunday, June 9th from 12-4.
