This workshop offers visitors the opportunity to learn about a variety of stewardship opportunities. There will be an overview of the history of the property from the previous owners/managers Coverts Cooperator Larry Orvis. Then we will discuss managing the forests including softwood release, patch cuts, crop tree release and oak regeneration. We will also touch on forest openings and apple tree release. We are looking forward to a discussion on the practices amongst the presenters and professionals from Audubon Vermont, Forest, Parks and Recreation, National Wild Turkey Federation and more). Be prepared for walking on uneven terrain. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring water and lunch.
Please drop an e-mail to lisa@vtcoverts.org or matt.leonard@vermont.gov if you plan to attend. Directions will be provided to those who email. This should be a great adventure on a beautiful property. Hosted by: VT FP&R, The Orvis Volunteers, Green Mountain Audubon Society, VT Coverts, & National Wild Turkey Federation.
