A celebration of local town charters and the official opening of the Harriet Farnsworth Powell Museum
Governor Benning Wentworth of the New Hampshire Colony granted charters to 18 Vermont towns on June 7 and; 8, 1763. Ten of them were in Chittenden County, including Colchester.
The Essex Community Historical Society's "Happy 261st Birthday to Us" celebration will be held at the Harriet Farnsworth Powell Museum. Volunteer member representatives from the Colchester Historical Society will be Inge Schaefer and Jack Penca. Everyone is invited to stop by to visit the museum and exhibits.
And, there will be cake!
