Join Women and Our Woods and landowner Doreen Jones as we showcase the forest management work that was implemented on her property in Rochester. Doreen's forest management plan prescribed a thinning in order to favor straight and healthy balsam fir and spruce and remove unhealthy or poorly formed trees. So, in the summer of 2023 a Vermont Youth Conservation Corps crew, in partnership with WOW, completed a thinning of 11 acres. Join us to learn what a pre-commercial thinning is and its benefits for forest health, resilience and wildlife habitat.
