Join Women and Our Woods and landowner Melita Bass to explore the restoration work that Melita has been undertaking on her property since 2021. Most recently, with the help of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) and WOW, 350 trees were planted to restore a former hayfield to clayplain forest—the original forest type of the Champlain Valley. VYCC also spent another two days manually and mechanically removing invasive buckthorn. Melita's 100-acre property borders on Lake Champlain and will also offer us opportunities to do some birding and practice our tree identification skills.
