The GOOD NEWS Energy & Resilience Fair is less than a week away! Here's a schedule of presenters to whet your appetite for this Saturday, June 1st, 10 AM to 2 PM at The Arlington Common—as if all the free food, raffle prizes and live music were not enough…

10:15 AM All your recycling questions answered! Seriously, if you have never been to a presentation with Paula Kamperman of the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance, you've been missing out! In an energetic, interactive, no-shaming 45 minutes, you will come away knowing what to do with all your stuff—perfect before your Casella run. As you're doing your spring cleaning, find out how to keep your throw-aways out of the waste stream and into the dream stream where materials are transformed into new uses.

11:00 AM Marcus Jones will blow your mind when he shares the work he is doing to build homes that are made of rammed earth, do not require HVAC, use recycled, local materials, are mold-free, and will last for many, many generations. He is also starting a new business to sell construction site waste materials that can be repurposed. Fascinating stuff. Great to have him in our community!

11:00 AM Winner of the Lower Your Carbon Footprint Contest announced!

11:00-2:00 Free carbon-neutral beef and veggie hamburgers with salad and cookies will be served.

NOON Representative Seth Bongartz will give an overview on the progress made in this last legislative session to move Vermont forward to meet its climate goals and to help Vermonters become more resilient in this age of climate change.

12:30 Popcorn and a Movie! Finish your time at the fair enjoying this award-winning, uplifting film, Kiss the Ground, narrated by Woody Harrelson. "The solution is right under our feet." Nothing like a good dose of hope to send you on your way!

Ongoing, from 10 AM to 2 PM Gather all sorts of helpful energy and money-saving tips in the Watkins House visiting with the following organizations: NeighborWorks, Efficiency VT, Solar Pro, Gardens at the Yellow Barn Farm, Arlington Lions Club, Earth Matters, Living Buildings, WindowDressers, Bank of Bennington, Berkshire Bank, and more. Just outside, try out an electric riding mower and other e-lawncare tools.

PLUS raffle prizes throughout the day and kids activities! Something for everyone!

Brought to you by your Arlington Energy Committee through a MERP grant. We hope you'll come away with a mind full of tips, a tummy full of food, and a heart full of hope. Enjoy!
