Past event
May 27, 2024, 10 AM

The Argyle American Legion Post 1518 will be hosting our yearly Memorial Day parade and ceremony on Monday, 27 May beginning at 10 am. Veteran Dan Durrum will be serving as the Grand Marshal. We will begin with a parade from the Argyle Laundromat (on SR-197 at the Village line) stopping at the Moses Kill where Girl Scouts and athletes from the Argyle Youth Commission will place flowers in the stream from the bridge. Marchers will continue on to the Legion Post (corner of SR-40 and CR-47) where a ceremony with Village Mayor Darren Smith and Town Supervisor Bob Henke will provide remarks. Following an invocation by Rev. Bryan Fitzgerald of the Argyle Presbyterian Church, Christine Cuthbert will sing our National Anthem, the Legion Honor Guard will fire a gun salute, Dan Durrum will lay a wreath at our memorial, and veteran Ron Kuhr will end the ceremony by providing taps.

Please join us along the parade route and at the Legion as we honor and remember those service men and women who died fighting on the battlefields for the freedoms which we enjoy today. If you have served in our armed forces please join us by riding in our float which will be forming up at the Argyle Laundromat beginning at 09:30.
