Join Women & Our Woods (WOW) and landowner Melita Bass to explore the restoration work that Melita has been undertaking on her property since 2021. Most recently, the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) and WOW planted 350 trees to restore a former hayfield to clayplain forest—the original forest type of the Champlain Valley. VYCC also spent another two days manually and mechanically removing invasive buckthorn. Melita's 100-acre property borders Lake Champlain and will also offer us opportunities to do some birding and practice our tree identification skills. Bring your lunch to picnic along the shore after the tour. Children are welcome.
