Join Preservation Burlington and the Friends of Lakeview Cemetery for a chapel open house and cemetery tour this Memorial Day weekend. The Friends of Lakeview Cemetery (and Louisa Howard Chapel) were offered a very generous donation at the end of 2023, to be used for a project there. Some time ago a lighting designer drew up a plan to enhance the experience in the chapel with better lighting, and complete work begun in an earlier renovation. That work had been stalled by the pandemic and of course expenses have risen. But a surprise donation -- from a donor with parents and grandparents buried at Lakeside -- now means that the improvements will happen, hopefully soon. The details have lined up, funds have been received and now the city is drawing up the contract.
In celebration of this great news, and in honor of Memorial Day, Preservation Burlington and the Friends will hold a Chapel Open House and cemetery walking tour. There will be light refreshments and merchandise for sale.
