The Greensboro Conservation Commission and Greensboro Free Library are cosponsoring 3 Sunday morning spring bird walks led by experienced local birders. The first walk will be led by John Schweizer of Vermont Audubon, beginning at the Library at 7 a.m. this Sunday, May 19 and progressing along Church Lane, Lazy Lane and High Pines next to Caspian Lake. Last year we spotted or heard over 30 species of birds on these trails!
The second walk will meet at 7:00 at Highland Lodge on Sunday, May 26 and progress along Bathtub Rock Road and Porter Brook, led by Chris Steel. The third and final walk will be led by Joann Hanowski of Vermont Audubon and will explore her Bear Glen Trails. The group will meet at 7:00 on Sunday, June 2nd at the end of Collier Road (off Rocking Rock Rd). Lots of fun birding! All are welcome to these free walks, and note that the library has two pairs of binoculars for loan, and our leaders will try to bring extra binoculars to each walk.
Feel free to drop in the library to use our fast wifi to download The Merlin App for bird identification, or to borrow one of our many birding guides. The GCC will also be hosting a day of birds at Highland Center for the Arts with VINS (Vermont Institute of Natural Science) and Slow Birding with Bridget Butler (The Vermont Bird Diva) on Saturday, August 17th from 1-4. Happy Birding!!
