Let's Create a South End Community Center!

Dear neighbors,

What are the different activities and events you'd like to see happening in the South End Community Center? Oh wait, we don't have a community center! YET. We need your creative input to make it real.

What do you wish you could do that you can't do right now in our neighborhood? Public meeting space, community dinners, classes, senior center, library branch. What else? What about in the summer? In the winter? These are questions to get your YES-I-believe-this-can-happen juices flowing. We have some good work to do, and now is the time.

On Thursday, May 16, the regular monthly Ward 5 Neighborhood Planning Assembly (NPA) meeting will include a discussion about creating a South End Community Center. The changes coming our way with the Innovation District means that the window of opportunity is wide open. Now is the time to start planning. Through our NPA's gathering of neighbors, we can dream this idea into being. We don't need to wait and hope for this to happen, we can start work on it at our May 16 NPA meeting. South End Community Center is on the agenda!

And you can get a free, delicious dinner besides, prepared by Faried and the People's Kitchen. Dinner starts at 6:30 PM at the DPW Conference Room, 645 Pine Street. Zoom in if that works better for you (but, alas, no dinner on Zoom). The meeting begins at 7.

Ideas, questions, about the South End Community Center? Come to the meeting on Thursday. Hope to see you there. Please pass this along to South End friends, neighbors and strangers who might be interested!
