A FREE beginner level Falls Prevention Tai Chi Class led by Jenny Wolffe and Dave Horner, certified Tai Chi Vermont Instructors, will be held at the Aldrich Library in Barre on Mondays at 4:30 pm to 5:30pm from June 3 thru July 22. Since classes build on each other, we will ask participants to start with the first class and commit to the entire series. Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothes for the classes.
Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise and moving meditation that benefits both physical and mental health. Tai Chi is easy to learn and includes a variety of movements that work on fall prevention strategies like weight transference, mindfulness and balance. You'll learn a Sun Style short form of tai chi that you can practice and refine at home.
Falls Prevention Tai Chi is a low impact program proven to reduce falls and arthritis pain, increase muscular strength and decrease depression, anxiety and osteoporosis. The sessions include a range of movements suitable for every fitness level and ability. These enjoyable and motivational classes may be taken either standing or sitting in a chair.
AmeriCorps Seniors and the Central Vermont Council on Aging are excited to partner with the Aldrich Library to offer this wellness class.
