Their daily routines are orchestrated under the watchful eyes of Nurse Ratched, who uses subtle emotional manipulation to keep her charges in line. Into this placid world steps R. P. McMurphy, a small-time criminal looking to spend the end of his sentence in the relative luxury of a mental hospital.
