Promoting the Milk with Dignity Campaign
The Milk with Dignity Campaign will be an offering in the Barre Historical Society/Old Labor Hall's monthly series of free events examining critical social issues and exploring ways for individuals to actively contribute to improving life in Vermont.
The action-oriented session on May 19, from 3-5 pm at the historic Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite St., Barre will offer an opportunity to meet with immigrant dairy workers and organizers from the Vermont-based human rights organization Migrant Justice.
The Milk with Dignity program was created by farm workers to improve labor and housing conditions and to secure workers' rights in the dairy industry. A focus of the May 19 session will be getting Hannaford Supermarkets to sign on to the campaign.
Other monthly sessions will include a Teach-In led by the Pride Center of Vermont, Voting and Civics in the Disinformation Age, Community Engagement on Preventing Gun Violence, and Flood Safety and Climate Resilience.
