featuring pianist David Feurzeig w/ Licia Gambino, flute, Miguel Levy, Trumpet
FREE Admission, Freewill donations to benefit Helping Hands Fund

In May 2022 composer-pianist David Feurzeig embarked on Play Every Town: 252 free concerts in each of Vermont's 252 towns to confront climate change through the power of community & music. Traveling in his solar-charged electric vehicle throughout the state David will become the first musician to perform in every Vermont municipality, offering free concerts to bring attention to the interrelated issues of climate & community, and to call into question the normality of long-distance touring & travel, while bringing the joy of music to his audiences.

"I want to support Vermont's local communities with live performance in village centers & downtowns, while fulfilling UVM's mission to serve as a resource for the whole state." Feurzeig, a professor of music at UVM, specializes in genre-defying recitals that bring together music of an astonishing variety of musical styles, from ancient & classical to jazz, avant-garde, and popular traditions. Each program is locally tailored. In Shrewsbury, David will be joined by flutist Licia Gambino for part of Claude Bolling's popular jazz-classical crossover "Suite for Flute and Piano". Also joining David will be Miguel Levy on Trumpet playing There is No Greater Love and Moonlight in Vermont. David will play music by a very young Mozart from 1761, the year Shrewsbury was chartered, and Mozart's popular variations on "Twinkle Twinkle" composed in 1781, the year of the first town meeting. The program will also include Scott Joplin's "Real Slow Drag" from 1913, the year the Meeting House's McPhail upright piano was manufactured. As with every concert in the project, this one will include its own unique sonata by Domenico Scarlatti: Sonata no. 54 for this 54th concert in the project
