Two experts in their fields will compare and contrast the architectural significance of the Old Meeting House in East Montpelier and Calais' Old West Church in the broader Vermont and New England context. The presenters will be Nancy Boone, the former Vermont State Architectural Historian, and Jan Lewandoski, owner of Restoration and Traditional Building, specializing in heavy timber repair of barns, churches and wooden bridges. Though the two meeting houses were built at about the same time in the 1820's and had the same framer, Lovel Kelton, their similarities and differences reflect the desires and backgrounds of each community.
