The Friends of the Argyle Library will have our annual Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 25, 9:00am to 1:00pm. BUT WAIT, this year we will be holding our first ever BASKET RAFFLE, too.
Because of the continuing threat posed by the invasive jumping worm, we again ask that any donation of PERENNIALS OR SHRUBS from your gardens have all garden soil THOROUGHLY washed off. NO garden soil should remain on the plants. Then washed plants should be packed, barerooted in material such as moistened shredded newspaper and wrapped in plastic, or they may be repotted in commercial potting soil. SORRY for the inconvenience! Jumping worms have been found in Argyle. They are invasive and destructive and we don't want to help spread them to new sites.
We will also be accepting donations of the following:
---Bedding plants grown in COMMERCIAL POTTING SOIL ONLY; either plants you start at home or purchase from a garden center
---Garden bulbs
---House plants grown in commercial potting soil
---Baked goods for the bake sale (no cream cheese frosting or custard pies, please).
Donations of plants may be brought to the library on Friday, May 24 from 4:00-7:00PM.
Baked goods may be dropped off the morning of May 25 after 8:00am.
Other arrangements can be made, if necessary, by calling the numbers below.
Baskets will be on display in the library and raffle tickets ( 4 for $1) can be purchased beginning on Monday, May 20 during regular library hours. The raffle will continue through Saturday, May 25 at 12:30 pm. You will not have to be present at the close of the sale to collect your winnings. WE ARE LOOKING FOR DONATIONS OF BASKETS FOR THE SALE. Donations can be left at the library during regular hours until Monday, May 20.
We greatly appreciate the support of the generous Argyle community. All proceeds from our fundraising events go to support the library.
