A public re-opening celebration for the 1837 Guilford Center Meeting House, shuttered in March 2020, is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. The structure on Guilford Center Road next to the Guilford Free Library earned a 1982 National Register of Historic Places designation and is maintained by the Guilford Historical Society. A short program will begin at 1:30 and will include an a capella performance by the Guilford Chamber Singers. The program will be followed by light refreshments and a chance to ring the building's 400-pound cast-bronze bell, also dating to 1837. Come see the restoration of this lovely space, also a former United Universalist church.
