The dance at the Capital City Grange Hall, about 1 mile south of Montpelier on Rt. 12/Northfield St. will feature another great caller: Mary Wesley. Mary is the grand-daughter of 2 Vermont square dance callers, which she learned about after she got hooked on contra dancing and started calling. She's called at festivals and weekends around the country--and regularly for our dances! On Saturday evening, the live music will be provided by a great group from Maine, Stomp Rocket! This group features Dave Langford on fiddle, Glen Loper on mandolin and tenor banjo, and Bethany Waickman on guitar. Lots of dancing music is guaranteed.
Mary will teach an instruction/refresher session starting about 7:40, so aim to get to the Grange Hall about 7:30 to change your shoes, or clean them really well to protect our beautiful dance floor. The Grange Hall is located at 6612 VT 12, Berlin VT 05602. We'll have dancing from 8:00 to 11:00 PM, with a brief break midway through. Come with your friends, or come alone--there are lots of folks to partner with in this friendly social dance community. If you can walk in time to the music, you'll learn the rest quickly!
Admission: choose the price that matches you--$12 for regular adult-type people, $5 for kids or low-income people, or $20 if you want to help us pay the band, caller and sound really well!
