After close to 3 years, the San Jose Monteverde Water Project is totally complete in Mexico, bringing fresh, safe water from a mountain stream to the village of 1000 residents thanks to months of hard manual labor by the local villagers, funding and guidance from Rotary International, Healing Waters International, and the Catholic Migrant Ministry of Addison County. Walter Nonemaker, the representative from Healing Waters International, will be coming to St. Peter's Parish Hall, Vergennes, on May 22 at 5:30 pm for a celebratory presentation with Fr. Yvon Royer and Scott Gaines. Father Royer and Scott are traveling to Monteverde May 7 - 9 to participate in their local celebration up on the mountain where the solar powered pump is fully operational and being monitored via satellite. The Catholic Migrant Ministry of Addison County will provide a meal of local Mexican foods. This is a momentous occasion and we hope many will join us in the celebration.
