Puccini is justly celebrated as one of the greatest opera composers, renowned particularly for La Boheme, Tosca and Madam Butterfly. He composed the Messa di Gloria is as his graduation piece from the Institute Musicale Pacini in Northern Italy when he was twenty. Set for choir, orchestra and tenor and bass soloists, the mass was Puccini's largest and final sacred work. His combination of the sacred text with rich harmonies and burgeoning operatic style are beautiful, exciting, and dramatic, offering a glimpse into his future as an opera composer. Join us for this magnificent and uplifting music!
