A new 12-week series of the Chelsea Qigong class will start on Thursday June 6th, 6-7:30pm at the Chelsea Town Hall. You are welcome to sample the current class with no obligation any Thursday from now on.
The class has been very successful so far. My approach to teaching Qigong is quite different from most. It draws on several other disciplines, which illuminate the deeper, harder to grasp aspects of this profound discipline.
I have been studying somatic practices all my life. I have taught Taijiquan and Qigong since 1971 and I am certified as a Teacher of the Alexander Technique (since 1980) and a Practitioner of Somatic Experiencing (since 2002). I have conducted and published controlled clinical trials of my system, demonstrating physical and psychological benefits.
The Qigong practices are designed to teach basic principles of how to use body and mind effectively, and apply to all activities of daily life. One of my students, commenting that what he had just learned would make it a lot easier to pull his sugaring lines, wrote me: "I can't believe it took me almost 79 years to find out how to work my body. I wish I'd found Peter and his class a little sooner."
Another student, who is a black belt in Shaolin Kenpo karate and a long-term practitioner of Iyengar yoga, wrote: "This experience has opened new vistas for me that I never imagined could happen. There are no words for the awareness that Peter has given us."
I love teaching this material, and truly believe it can add years of good health to your life. So if any of this speaks to you, I encourage you to check out the classes. Drop in any Thursday, starting May 2nd, 6-7:30pm.
Once the new 12-week class begins in June, I will ask for a 12-week commitment, at a cost of $180; this is necessary for real learning to take place. Membership in the class also includes optional Zoom classes (to make up missed classes) and a large library of online videos.
