We (the Quinn Family) would like to thank the folks who turned out to visit with us in our Mom Janet’s honor on Sunday. She touched a lot of lives in a positive way and we know that she will be dearly missed by more than her immediate family. The gathering at the Monitor Barn was one that she would have loved.
The Monitor Barn is a lovely, comfortable place for a large gathering and Heidi, Paul, and Kelsey from the Barn were extremely helpful in answering our questions and helping the event be all that we could have imagined.
The event could not have gone more smoothly, thanks to the generosity of so many friends and near-family in the community. Marie Thomas from the Grange and the ladies with her (sorry, I didn’t get all names) were amazing. From helping us get set up to greet our friends to keeping an eye on the food, refilling creamers, replenishing cold cut trays and rolls and tending all of the baked bries (one of Mom’s favorite party foods), they were of such help that we were able to concentrate on remembering Mom and seeing to our Dad. Diane Begins, Denise Barnard, Delina Gilroy, and Diane Mariano (honorary sisters) were amazingly helpful with set-up and running around to acquire last-minute items that we inevitably forgot to bring. Cold cuts were donated by Price Chopper and Beaudry’s Store and the “bread man” (Rick with Freihofer’s) donated rolls. On the sweet side, the Richmond Market (special thank you to Betty Jacques) donated cookies and a fruit platter, while Marie Thomas brought brownies and Anne O’Brien brought along a zucchini cake. BPMS (thanks, Sandy) allowed us the use of a coffee urn, as did the Holy Rosary Church (thanks, Liz). Several folks also pitched in to help us clean up, including Anne White, Anne O’Brien, the “Grange ladies,” George Gifford, and many family friends.
Thank you to all who came to celebrate Mom’s life and memory.
