"The Old Country Fiddler: Charles Ross Taggart,
Vermont's Traveling
Entertainer"
Sunday, October 19th
Story Memorial Hall, Brownsville
4-6:30pm
Adam Boyce portrays the late musical humorist Charles Ross Taggart, "The Old Country
Fiddler" (1871-1953) for the West Windsor Historical Society's annual meeting at
Story Memorial Hall (Town Hall) in Brownsville.
The presentation consists of some fiddling, along with some of Mr. Taggart's own humorous
"Old Country Fiddler" monologues, as well as Mr. Taggart (in the person of Adam
Boyce) sharing his thoughts and recollections about his life and career as a musical
humorist. Taggart traveled all over the country on various lyceum and Chautauqua
circuits for over 40 years, and was a recording artist and early talking movie star.
Cider and socializing begin at 4pm, followed by a potluck supper at 4:30pm, short
business meeting of the society beginning around 5pm, and the presentation to start by
5:30pm.
Boyce recently wrote a book about Mr. Taggart (The Man from Vermont: Charles Ross
Taggart, The Old Country Fiddler), which will be available for purchase to those
interested.
The event is free and open to the public.
