Please join us for an Opening Reception on Sunday, May 5 from 2:00-4:00 for Renee Greenlee, whose exhibit "In Praise of Small Streams" will be on view at the Chelsea Public Library from Sunday May 5 through Tuesday, July 2nd.
"In Praise of Small Streams" was created using water from a small brook and ephemeral streams in Huntington, VT. This collection is part of "Blue Alchemy," an ongoing cyanotype project by Renee Greenlee. Employing the cyanotype technique — an early photographic process reliant on UV light — she begins by saturating the material, generally silk or watercolor paper, with cyanotype chemistry. Once dried, she takes the material to the water's edge for exposure, forging a tangible representation of the landscape itself in collaboration with the watershed. The resulting pieces embody the very essence of the landscape itself — a reciprocal act of creation with the natural world.
