"The Book Club Play" - Two Readings in Williamstown

Past event
May 4, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, May 5, 2024

Do you love your book club — or have you somehow managed to escape joining one? Either way, book clubs are arguably the great national pastime, serving as both a salon and occasional war zone. "The Book Club Play," a comedy written by Karen Zacarias, is presented as two free staged readings as part of the Williamstown Public Library's yearlong 150th anniversary. Directed by Deb Burns of Williamstown, the readings feature "The Library Cards," an ensemble of six local actors whose characters can scarcely foresee that their book club is headed for an uproarious meltdown under the unblinking eye of a documentary film camera. Please come, with or without your book club, to celebrate the library — and the readers who gather to talk about the books that they love and love to hate.

Note: A second reading, also free, will be performed on Sunday, May 5 at 2 pm at Sweetwood, 1622 Cold Spring Road, Williamstown.
