Please join us for a fundraiser for Americas Media Initiative (AMI), Sunday Oct 19th from 5-8pm at the home of David McColgin and Eloy Guzman, 345 White Birch Lane, Charlotte. (From Mt. Philo Road, turn onto Spear Street Extension and take first left (north) onto White Birch Ln. Continue up the gravel road past the 345 house number sign to the top.)
We will have great food, great company, hopefully a beautiful sunset, and a chance to hear about all the exciting new projects AMI is planning for 2015 and beyond.

The mission of Americas Media Initiative is to promote cultural exchange between the people of the United States and Cuba. Since its founding in 2010, AMI has consistently done groundbreaking work. AMI has organized tours of independently produced U.S. films in the provinces of Cuba, working with important cultural institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the documentary PBS series, POV. The films engage Cuban audiences and generate significant media coverage on Cuban television, in the press, and on the Internet. In the U.S., AMI has facilitated numerous tours, bringing Cuban filmmakers to universities, community centers, and cultural institutions across the U.S. AMI also distributes DVDs of independently produced Cuban documentaries, animations, and short fictions with its distribution partner, Icarus Films in New York.
