MAUSD Community,

It has been one week since the last budget vote and we wanted to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the level of participation from our community around the budget. We are so fortunate to have a board, administration, and a community that is working to create a budget that balances what we can reasonably expect our taxpayers to pay and how we properly fund our schools to provide the level of care our students deserve and require. The Board is dedicated to providing high levels of engagement as we work collaboratively with all owner and stakeholder groups during the coming weeks. We have a finite amount of time to develop and pass a budget without running into a deadline of June 30th. At that time, we would have an imposed budget that is 85% of our current fiscal year budget (FY 23/24) with which to run all district schools.

The school board will meet again on April 30th, 2024 for our regular business meeting that will include discussions and action items on FY 24/25 and FY 25/26 budgets among other essential board work including continued board training, monitoring reports, and updates on our schools from the Superintendent. This meeting will include a public comment section after budget discussions, which is not a Q & A forum at this time. In the coming week, board meetings will include community engagement opportunities specifically for the budget in a Q & A format.

The board will also have committee meetings on May 14th from 6-9pm in different rooms surrounding the Mount Abraham library. Committee meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month unless a single committee decides to meet at a different time. We adhere to formal schedules for all board work to ensure our members' time is managed effectively. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate in committee meetings.
