Hi all!
There was some conversation regarding ranked choice voting at this year's Representative Town Meeting. There was a lot of support for it - one of the younger members pointed out that the youth are very excited about it, and others spoke in favor because they felt it was more democratic than our current voting system.
We passed a non-binding resolution to express our support for RCV to the legislature and ask for them to research it and provide education. I just came across information on some forums where it will be discussed and hope some folks from Brattleboro can attend:
The Vermont Secretary of State and League of Women Voters will offer two forums on RCV. They are on zoom, on May 1st and May 8th.

May 1: The first forum, "Ranked Choice Voting Overview," is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1st, from 7:00-8:30 pm on Zoom. Ryan Kirby of the Ranked Choice Voting Resource Center (https://www.rcvresources.org/) will cover key concepts and present a simulation for participants to engage in to better understand what RCV is and how it works. May 8: The second forum, "Ranked Choice Voting in Vermont: Impact, Considerations & Opportunities," will take place on Wednesday, May 8th, from 7:00-8:30 pm on Zoom. This session will dive into the details of administering RCV elections in Vermont, featuring Burlington Assistant City Clerk Sarah Montgomery and our own Brattleboro Town Clerk Hillary Francis.
