DONATIONS of many apple pies are needed (pies purchased from a bakery are acceptable donations.) APPLE PIE BAKING CONTESTS: Now is the time to practice your apple pie baking skills. First place winner in the adult baking contest receives $50 cash, a beautiful blue ribbon and other prizes. We also have names of the winners of the Best Apple Pie engraved on brass plates on our "Apple" plaque. Ribbons, cash and more prizes, are received by 2nd place through honorable mention winners.

JUNIOR BAKERS. First place in two Junior baking contests (Youth up to grade 12) is $25 cash (each), a beautiful blue ribbon and other prizes. Entries that place 2nd through honorable mention also receive ribbons, cash and prizes. There are two special memorial "Pie Man Awards" given, one in each Junior contest. Pie Man Award winners receive ribbons, cash and prizes.

We're pleased to have Miss Vermont's Outstanding Teen 2014, from Bennington, as a guest judge, for the two Junior baking contests.

If this is your first time entering the Apple Pie Baking contest, the rules are easy and few.

1. Your pie must be entered, at the gym, by 10;30 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 18th
2. You must use "Vermont" grown apples.
3. Your entry must be a "traditional" two-crust Apple Pie. (No nuts or other fruit.)
4. The entry fee is $5 for Adults and $2.50 for Juniors, OR donate a second pie for
the historical society to sell.
5. The remaining slices of your entry (after judging) are sold. (Pick up your pie pan
at the pie sales table after the remaining slices have been removed from it.)
6. You must be willing to share your recipe with us.
7. HINT: The judges like them WARM! :)

Our Apple Pie Festival is always a fun, family friendly event - Stay a while, after you've entered your apple pie in the baking contest and check out what over 40 craft tables offer for some early Christmas shopping, see what treasures you might find to bid on in our Silent Auction, then buy some lunch and enjoy a slice of pie a-la-mode for dessert.
