Last November, Ken Matzner and Anne Campbell traveled to Antarctica, and on the evening of Monday, April 29, Ken will be sharing a visual tour of their experience at the Old Brick Church in East Montpelier at 6:45 pm.
"My intent," explains Ken, "is to show what it was like to travel there and to learn about the challenging weather conditions, the mountains buried in snow and ice, the many glaciers, the huge icebergs and the hardy wildlife. It is an amazing, beautiful and dangerous environment." Ken will also talk about a few of the earliest hero explorers along with some facts about the impact of humans on the animals and the ice.
This event is sponsored by the Calais and East Montpelier Historical Societies and is free and open to all. An optional potluck begins at 6:00pm. Bring your own place setting and a dish to share. Beverages will be provided. Ken's talk will start at 6:45.
