Early Earth Day Open Greenhouse at Foster Gardens

Past event
Apr 20, 2024, 9 AM to 3 PM

It's truly spring at Foster Gardens!! The greenhouse is full!

We'll have our first Open Greenhouse this weekend, April 20th for an early Earth Day celebration, 9-3! All are welcome to walk through the greenhouse to enjoy the sights and smells, and to see what's perking up outside. It's a walk over uneven terrain, but a super spirit boost!!

We are located off of White Brook Road in Sharon. Follow the signs and enjoy the drive:)

Visitors can enjoy the pansies, herbs, strawberry starts, and CSG shares! What is CSG?! Community Supported Gardening! Available only until May 1st, any amount translates to a preseason, 20% discount!

Not everything will be ready yet (still transplanting veggies and starting more seeds nightly), but we do have a few choices to brighten your day: some herbs (rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, tarragon, lemon grass, basil, sage), everbearing strawberry starts (4" pots, super 6 packs, & hanging baskets), various succulents, and some garden favorite flowers (hardy pansies, gazania and dianthus). Also plenty of pots and baskets of tender annual flowers that will need protection for a few more weeks.
In celebration of Earth Day, we will have pot recycling, a free pile, dry cardboard for sheet mulching, and we'll accept area rugs and runners for use around the greenhouse walkways. Old yoga mats, too for cushiony aisles in the greenhouse:)

Take a walk around the wood-fired, solar-powered, ecologically-growing greenhouse and gardens, where no pesticides are used, only non-gmo and mostly organic seeds are grown, and organic soil and fertilizers are used.

As always, we take pots, baskets, trays, and inserts for reuse! We use 4" the most, short or tall, round or square, and 4 pack inserts and their trays. Plus 10" and 12" baskets with attached saucers. We have a selection of cell inserts and trays for seed starting, plus all sizes of pots and baskets for transplanting... all for FREE! Happy Earth Day! Celebrate everyday:)
