Knotweed Identification and Control

Past event
May 5, 2024, 2 to 4 PM

Lewis Creek Association will hold an event at Cota Field (Starksboro) on May 5, 2-4 PM, in collaboration with the Starksboro Conservation Commission, to educate the community about how to identify Japanese knotweed, how to use iNaturalist to map its location in the Lewis Creek watershed (or for other projects!), and to give a summary of our upcoming manual removal demonstration project (in Ferrisburgh). Mike Bald (consultant from Got Weeds?) will be there, as well as herbalist Sophie Cassel, who will speak about how she uses knotweed to make medicine. Light refreshments will be provided. Please fill out this form to be added to LCA's knotweed mailing list (https://forms.gle/NyGbPDcLFqQ4yFn99), or feel free to just show up on May 5. If you're interested in learning more about how to use iNaturalist for this or other projects, please try to download the app to your mobile device before you come to the event, and set up an account online (at inaturalist.org or through the app) beforehand. Read more about the project at https://www.lewiscreek.org/press-releases-and-news/2024/3/20/lewis-creek-association-to-comb[...]hed, and watch our interview with WCAX at https://www.wcax.com/2024/03/21/community-members-invited-join-fight-against-invasive-plant-species/.
