Lunch Class: How to Succeed at the Farmers Market

Past event
Apr 21, 2024, 11 AM to 1 PM

Thinking about trying your hand at selling at the farmers market? Join us for lunch and learn all you need to know to get started! We'll discuss the different ways to be a vendor at farmers markets, whether you plan to join for the whole season, or for just one day with your bumper crop of tomatoes. We'll explore products that customers look for at market, what you can grow and produce at home, including which products are regulated and licensed by the state, and how to navigate state regulations. We'll talk about merchandising and creating beautiful displays, product packaging and labeling, typical market rules and regulations, and setting up at market. We'll also dig into topics like managing your finances, and promoting your business on social media. Whether you're a hobby gardener with a little extra produce to sell, a home baker thinking about expanding, or have a homestead producing more than you need, farmers markets are a great way to get your products out into the community. Participants will receive a coupon for a free day vendor slot or 10% discount on the full season at Greensboro Farmers Market.
Instructors: Carol Fairbank, Broadfork Farmstead & Charlotte Greene, Flourbottom Bread
