Learn to Identify & Manage Invasive Plants

Past event
Apr 28, 2024, 3 to 5 PM

The Greensboro Conservation Commission is excited to welcome Michael Bald of Got Weeds! Mike will provide an orientation to terrestrial invasive plants and effective manual control methods. He will briefly outline the impacts of exotic, non-native plants on our native pollinators and functional landscapes, following with a session on safe outdoor work habits. Participants will come away with a stronger understanding of how to prepare for the work of transitioning landscapes, how to identify common non-natives, and how they can carry projects through to successful completion.

Mike Bald is the founder and owner of Got Weeds? in Royalton, Vermont, a one-person operation offering non-chemical management options for landowners through much of New England. He is also a member of the Vermont Invasive Exotic Plant Advisory Committee. Mike is intent on growing our collective capacity within communities so that local stewards can affect positive change on our stressed landscapes. Mike happily trains community members on control methods for most terrestrial plant species with an emphasis on good stewardship, worker / workplace safety, and the richness of our outdoor experiences.

Don't miss this exciting workshop, open to the public free of charge! Make sure to stop by the Greensboro Free Library on Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 PM!
