Chittenden 14 State Representatives Barbara Rachelson and Mary-Katherine Stone are hosting a Constituent Event: Public Safety, Crime and Resources for Victims of Crime.
Two guest speakers will be providing information on community-based approaches and support to public safety, as well as the services and support available for victims of crime.
1. Rachel Jolly, the Assistant Director at CEDO, Burlington Community Justice Center (CJC), will talk about community-based approaches to public safety; with a focus on the current climate of crime and public safety in Burlington, the systemic root causes of crime and harm, existing support services and community-based approaches, as well as gaps in services and approaches. Rachel will also share the ways that the CJC is working to make Burlington safer and how they support victims of crime.
2. Jennifer Poehlmann, the Executive Director of the Center for Crime Victim Services (CCVS) will share information on the compassionate, victim-centered services CCVS provides to victims and survivors of crime (whether or not the crime is reported or prosecuted), specifically the Victim's Compensation, Sexual Assault, and the Victim Assistance programs.
