Call to Artists: Passage to Wonderland

Past event
Jun 1, 2024

As the days get shorter and autumn invites us to slow down, it is time to retreat and reflect. Before the darkness of winter is fully upon us, it's imperative to connect to nature, to our creative selves, and to loved ones who fill our cups.

With this in mind, we invite you to participate in the "Passage to Wonderland" art show, which will be on display from October 2024 through January 2025 at the Huntington Public Library.

This show is being put together by local Huntington resident Meghan Okolita and San Francisco resident Dena Witkes, friends who have been creating together for decades. Having spent many seasons living both near and far from one other (in a variety of differing climates), our conversations often return to the transformations happening within ourselves and in the world around us. Last fall, despite living on opposite sides of the country, we were scheming on how we could create collaboratively in an effort to combat both the distance between us and the effects of the changing seasons. After tossing a few ideas around, we landed here, on our shared feelings of transition when the leaves are down and the shift to winter lies ahead. We invite you to also connect and collaborate with a friend who inspires you and keeps your art flowing, no matter where they live.

How beautiful would it be to fill the library with art from all over, creating a space full of life and psychedelic color, as the world outside darkens?
