Given that Representative Stone and I have heard from so many of you about your concerns with crime and public safety, we have invited two guest speakers who will be providing information on community-based approaches and support to Public Safety, as well as the services and supports available for victims of crime.
Our first guest speaker will be Rachel Jolly, the Assistant Director at CEDO, Burlington Community Justice Center. Rachel will talk about Community Based Approaches to Public Safety; with a focus on the current climate of crime and public safety in Burlington, the systemic root causes of crime and harm, existing support services and community-based approaches as well as the identification in gaps of those services and approaches. She will also share the ways that the Community Justice Center is working to make Burlington safer and how they support victims of crime.
Jennifer Poehlmann, the Executive Director of the Center for Crime Victim Services (CCVS) is our other guest speaker. CCVS provides compassionate, victim-centered services to victims and survivors of crime (whether or not the crime is reported or prosecuted). Their direct service programs include the Victim's Compensation Program, the Sexual Assault Program, and the Victim Assistance Program.
Come learn more about these supports and programs. Please email either of us for the link to the event at brachelson@leg.state.vt.us or mstone@leg.state.vt.us
