Free Birding Walk at Bomoseen State Park

Hey – would you like something to observe other than that short-lived eclipse?
Come birding with us! You can still look at the sky, but also in the trees, water, underbrush…and this time you'll hear songs, and get exercise at the same time!

Join us at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9th at Bomoseen State Park for this free public event, co-sponsored by the Lake Bomoseen Environmental Alliance and Rutland County Audubon Society. Nate Dansereau, president of R.C. Audubon, will lead the walk.

Meet some of the feathered residents and visitors that depend on Lake Bomoseen's ecosystems. All birders are welcome, from beginners to experts. Learn more about the work of two local conservation organizations while getting tips on bird identification, habits & needs.

If the gate is open, park in the main lot at the beach. Otherwise, park by the contact station or along the road, and meet us there at the entrance.

Dress for the weather, wear good walking shoes, and bring a water bottle and binoculars if you have a pair. We will walk along the water and on the hiking trail, part of which is uphill, but the pace will be slow. Please note that park bathroom facilities and water spigots are not available at this time of year, but you may leave the walk at any time.

Hope to see you!
