2nd Annual Musical Mud Season Spectacular

Past event
Apr 13, 2024, 2:30 to 8:30 PM

The Summit School of Traditional Music & Culture is again hosting the Mud Season Spectacular on Saturday, April 13th, from 2:30pm-8:30pm at the Capital City Grange Hall in Berlin, VT. Register and learn more here: https://www.summit-school.org/general-8

Started last year under the umbrella of Pete Sutherland's influence and work with youth, the Spectacular creates an annual opportunity to bring kids and teens together, especially knowing that their adults (parents, teachers, grandparents, whoever!) can also be involved and share the experiences across the years.

All singers, dancers, and instrumentalists are invited to a Swedish music and dance workshop from 2:30pm-5:00pm. Led by Heidi Wilson, Jeremy Carter-Gordon, Aaron Marcus, and Joanne Garton, we'll bring Swedish songs and music to the group as linked through social dance. It's a great opportunity to try our hands at a variety of ways to learn music (voice, instrument, and body). For all ages and abilities, including kids and teens with their adults or on their own.

Dinner is served ($10 by donation) downstairs at the Grange Hall from 5pm-6:30pm with some musical jams on the side, then join us for an evening showcase and social dance featuring the young musicians from your community (6:30pm-8:30pm)? Play out on some of your favorite tunes, play for our dancers, and share tunes in a session. Heidi, Jeremy, Aaron, and Joanne might also treat us to a tune, and Oliver Scanlon will provide support with sound equipment and conviviality!
