A NIGHT OF FRENCH MUSIC! Sat. Oct. 11 at 7:30 PM at THE MUSIC BOX!
Immerse yourself in French music from France, Quebec and Louisana with Va et Vient at The Music Box on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 PM. This trio includes Carol Reed playing piano, guitar and minor percussion, George Dunne- flute and accordion, and Suzanne Germain – vocals. A sizeable percentage of New England's population is of French-Canadian descent. Va-et-vient celebrates the music of this wonderfully rich culture, and keeps its presence alive for both young and old listeners through performance and education. In turn, VEV, as a presenter of Franco-American music, is continuously expanding its repertoire through study and discovery of resources, ranging from archived recordings to singing sessions at the homes of some of Quebec's most respected keepers of the songs.
In December of 2003, Va-et-vient was awarded "Juried Artist" status by the Vermont Arts Council. VEV has performed at some of Vermont's most respected music venues, including The New World Festival, Champlain Valley Folk Festival, First Night Burlington, Middlebury's Festival on the Green, Saint Michael's College, Middlebury College, University of Vermont and the Vergennes Opera House. Outside Vermont, they have made appearances in New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and in Quebec City, as well as the Donnacona Maison de la culture in Quebec Province. Recently, they were the first non-Canadian group invited to perform at the festival Chantez-Vous Bien Chez Nous at Saint-Bernard-de-Michaudville.
