Professor Juliet Hooker of Brown University will give a talk on Friday, April 5th at 4:00 pm at Middlebury College in Axinn Center 232 . Her talk is entitled "Why Erica Garner Also Couldn't Breathe: Maternal Grief and Black Politics" in which she will highlight the history of Black maternal grieving to explore the costs and injustices that accompany the instrumentalization of grieving activism as a democratic resource. All are welcome to join in a discussion afterwards. The talk is free and open to the public.
